(Re)Introducing the EGX Cosplay Championship

We are bringing back a reformatted ‘EGX Cosplay Championship’ to give expert cosplay crafters an opportunity to test their skill against like minded cosplayers, supported with generous cash prizing and a trip to EGX the following year.

The championship will run alongside other opportunities for cosplayers to show off their passion and love for their favorite characters, to ensure that cosplayers of all levels have their chance to shine at EGX.

Competition Format

The competition will take place on Saturday following our just for fun Cosplay Catwalk and will be open to Solo and Duo entries with handmade costumes based on gaming characters - This will include original designs and interpretations based on characters and series from both video and table top games

The overall EGX Champion will win a cash prize of £1000, trophy and tickets and accommodation for EGX 2024, with cash prizes and tickets for the runners up too! 

How to take part

Applications open Monday 14th August to Friday 8th September 2023

Check out the rules and fill in the form below with details of your costume. Places in the competition will be confirmed no later than Wednesday 20th September

Cosplay Championship Judges

Exelia

Exelia has been cosplaying for over 15 years, representing the United Kingdom at some of the biggest cosplaycompetitions in the world! She is also an experienced speaker and judge, with a keen eye for detail -and she can’t wait to see all of your amazing costumes at EGX!

Opal Ink Cosplay

Opal Ink Cosplay is a cosplayer of 7 years and her speciality lies in video game costumes and makeup work. Best known for her Atreus from God of War or Ellie from the Last of Us, Abi frequently runs panels and tutorials at conventions on cosplay makeup and special fx, using her years of experience backstage at the theatre and self-taught skills to help others learn the many ways of makeup. She loves to explore her favourite characters through cosplaying and considers each new project a great opportunity to learn new skills like leather work, hand-dyeing, foam-craft and much more.

Other Cosplay Shows

Not ready to take on the Championships? Don’t worry we got you!

The Cosplay Catwalk returns on both Saturday and Sunday. The catwalk is a just for fun cosplay parade, open to cosplayers of all ages with hand made or bought costumes that want to strut their stuff in style.

On Sunday, the Catwalk will be followed by a Craftsmanship Showcase giving competitive entries a chance to show off their handmade creations of precision needlework and hot glue masterpieces for a chance of a prize. You won’t want to miss the truly impressive stage presentations from these incredible cosplayers!

Sign up on the day before 2pm at Cosplay Central to take part in the non-competitive catwalk, or if you have a handmade costume and want to impress our judges in our cosplay competition you can sign up in advance online from 28th August.
