If you’re feeling overwhelmed

If you’re feeling overwhelmed

EGX is a fab place to meet friends, make memories, and of course play games, but we know that this can feel like A LOT for some people. If you’re feeling anxious about attending EGX and need a little extra support, we’ve put together this handy guide to help you manage your day and have an awesome time.

Before the show

We’d love you to have a positive experience at our show, so let’s get organised! There’s a few things you can do before EGX begins to help your days at the event run smoothly.

  • Check out the ‘Things to do’ page – Give our webpages a glance over and note down which features you’d like to visit and what panels you’re interested in (locations and times). Create yourself a schedule so you’ll easily be able to remind yourself where you need to be and when.

  • Download an app you can count on – Pencil and paper is great, but our app is even better at helping plan your visit. Having the app ready to go on your phone will give you instant access to the show floor, meaning you’ll be able to locate everything easy peasy. Plus, there’s a scheduling tool so you can keep track of all the panels you don’t want to miss in one place. Simply search EGX into your app store and you’re good to go (Please note, this will update closer to the event.

  • Feeling nervous about where to go? - Be ahead of the game and familiarise yourself with the venue! For peace of mind, have a browse at where the amenities are located. Click here to snoop around ExCeL London’s floorplans.

At the show

Try not to put pressure on yourself. EGX is a fun and inclusive place to be, and we’re all here to have a good time and geek out over video games. The atmosphere is buzzing and exciting, but there’s areas to go if this gets too much.

We understand some games can have large queues and crowds, so if it does feel uncomfortable and you need to go somewhere to chill out and take a break, here’s our suggestions:

  • Try a boardgame – Why not head to the tabletop area and try your hand at a boardgame? Sit back and relax by rolling dice and sorting cards. We have a wide selection of tabletop games to play, and you might even discover a new favourite!

Watch a panel – There’s a panel for everyone at EGX, from hilarious let’s plays to valuable industry knowledge sessions. Turn up early to bag yourself the best seat, and from there all you’ll need to do is get comfy and let yourself be entertained!

  • Handheld Zone – A brand new area for 2023, the Handheld Zone is where you can come along, pop your headphones in, and dive into a quick game of Coffee Talk and loads more charming titles. Chat with like-minded gamers if you fancy it, and even trade someone for that one sought-after item you’re missing in Animal Crossing…

  • EGX Rest Room - We’re here when you need a break! Gaming the Mind’s Reset Room provides a calming space away from all the hustle and bustle. Whatever your reason, you’re welcome to relax here. The Reset Room is staffed by volunteers from Gaming the Mind. We’re happy to chat or provide information about mental health - simply ask! If you just want some quiet time alone, that’s cool too. Gaming the Mind is a charity aimed at improving mental health in the gaming community.
